1. Dinner and a movie
It’s valentines day and maybe you’re still sweating over what to do, if you’re planning to do anything that is.
Well look no further! I have got 5 brilliant, budget friendly ideas which are still guaranteed to wow.
No, you don’t need to go to the cinema and out to the most fanciest restaurant to impress. Many supermarkets have been doing ‘dine for two’ deals for around £20. Tesco, Marks & Spencers, Waitrose & even Aldi have jumped on the band-wagon.
It’s worth mentioning that Aldi aren’t doing the typical meal deal package, but you can still buy all three courses separately at a decent price.
Find a good film on Netflix or even rent one on Amazon or any other subscription service and it’s a wrap.
If you want to make your valentines day dinner extra special, grab a few candles, set the mood with some music and enjoy.
2. Dine out..for less!
If you are really set on going out to eat for valentines day then even the fanciest of restaurants do great deals for two.
Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Epping are doing 3 courses from £26.95pp. Can seem pretty pricey for some but their food is excellent quality and worth every penny in my opinion. (I must do a review the next time I go).
Zizzi Italian are also doing a valentines day 3 course set meal for £19.95pp. It’s been a while since I last went to Zizzi, i’m talking years, but the last time I went I was impressed. By looking at their set menu they seem to have a good selection to choose from.
Burger & Lobster have a 3 course meal option for £30pp. As the name suggests, they sell Burgers & Lobsters so not much variety but good quality food nonetheless.
3. For the competitive couple
If you are a couple who is not so fussed about the wining and dining why not do something more casual?
Bowling is a great activity to do, especially for new couples, as it creates a relaxed and fun environment where you can bond. All Star Lanes & Hollywood Bowl are great places to check out. Not only can you bowl but you can also grab a bite to eat after – win-win if you ask me!
If bowling is a bit too standard for you why not try some indoor crazy golf? There have been a few of these popping up and, having gone myself, it’s great fun!
One of the well known ones (I believe) is Swingers which is mostly located in central London.
Another one that is fairly new is Puttshack in White City Westfield. What is also great is that again, after you’ve played, you can grab a bite to eat all in one place. Simple.
4. Try something a little different
Another great idea, that can really break the ice for new couples is ice-skating or even roller-skating/roller disco.
These two activities are very inexpensive and provide a great environment to relax, have a laugh and get to know your date – no matter how long you’ve been together.
For ice or roller skating in your area just drop a little Google search it will sort you right out ;).
5. Have an indoor picnic or cook together
If you live in the UK a picnic in the park at this time of year is a no go. But there is nothing stopping you from whipping out the blanket and having one right in your own home!
Prepare some staple picnic foods, maybe some candles and flowers (hint hint), put down your blanket and pillows and dine. Take time to talk and reconnect (or connect depending on your relationship status).
Last but not least (I had to throw this cheeky one in), if you live together why not cook your favourite meal together? Get busy in the kitchen talking, interacting and bonding. Plus, you get a yummy meal at the end of it!
And that’s it! 5 fab, last minute date ideas for Valentines Day that are budget friendly.
